Situation report: the quantic sea has been progressing at a nominal rate since its creation.
In 令和7年1月29日, I noted that j3s wrote a post about wikis and blogs, but I wanted to briefly touch on the fact that j3s launched their digital abyss. But if you check the accompanying git repo for the abyss, there is no content yet. Maybe coming later? 🤔
My own progress has been very good, at least in terms of my own goals, though. When I started this project, my goal was essentially to repurpose existing hardware to host the service, and so far that approach has been quite good. I've revisited the archives of particle17 and backfilled a very small amount of content here, too.
I've felt more excited to publish things on the internet than before too! I realized that, maybe, if I abuse the media manager functionality more, I can even host videos here and not feel terrible about that either. Previously, I was hosting videos on Streamable, but I really felt that $12.99/mo was too expensive as a non-video-person who was using it exclusively for hobbyist hosting. I used to be grandfathered into a cheaper plan, but I wavered a bit, cancelled, and re-subscribed, which led me to being on horrible pricing. I've found that generally speaking, the psychological trick of keeping grandfathered pricing really works well on me. Like, too well. How many subscriptions am I holding onto simply because if I cancel and resubscribe later, I'll end up regretting it? Even if I'm not using a subscription, I really find that it's hard to cancel, if there's even a slim chance I'll use the service in the future. Hm.
Today was warm in Tokyo. I really wish it would snow here, but I know the odds of this occurring are fairly low.
