This is an old revision of the document!

On the value of lightly edited, lightly moderated writing

One of the central goals I've had with this site is to write more, in public, more often. Many people have this goal with a blog, but end up in the editing and revision trap: it is far too easy to write an article in draft form, and then never revise and publish it. I think this is detrimental to the health of the Internet now, since many more AI-written articles and posts are flooding the scene with “perfect grammar, style, and punctuation.” They are “perfect” in construction, but lack substance.

In making this website a wiki, it is my goal to not fall into the trap of only writing drafts that are never published. Unless I'm writing a specific essay on a given topic, I will instead draft in-public and write pages incrementally. Pages are added to the start page when they have reached a level of completeness that I would find acceptable, but are added in private. Anyone can monitor the site's revision history to see what is being worked on in the background, and see when posts are added to the index.

The “central goal” I have in publishing lightly edited works is to convey information as fast as possible, free my own conscious to work on other problems, and to not fall victim to the editing trap.

Obviously, if you find errors, you can submit them to me via email, at [email protected].
