maimai でらっくす
maimai でらっくす (aka maimai DX, maimai Deluxe) is a game part of the Performai series of games by SEGA.
maimai and its family members are rhythm games, where you tap notes around a circular touch screen in time with music. It is a visually stunning money printer in Japan and abroad, probably in the top 3 most popular rhythm games in Japan, and definitely in the top 5.
maimai is physically demanding, has a very low skill floor, and a very high (perhaps almost insurmountable) skill ceiling.
In Japan, maimai is priced at 100 yen for 3 songs, which is about $0.80 for 12 minutes of entertainment. maimai is a coin-operated arcade game, but supports integrated electronic money in Japan via ThicaCloud on many machines, enabling cashless payments.
maimai, along with its family members, uses the Amusement Linkage Live Network (ALL.net), a service from SEGA that supports nationwide score save data, profile customization, long-term account progression, and related features. It does this by way of an Amusement IC compatible mobile phone or IC card, like SEGA’s own Aime card.
